Heart-stopping moment SUV rolls down the M5 Motorway after being clipped by Holden driver during ‘crazy’ manoeuvre
Terrifying footage shows the moment an SUV rolls along a busy highway after a motorist collides with the vehicle while trying to pass.
The shocking incident took place along the M5 motorway in Sydney.
A dashcam from another car showed a silver Holden Commodore speeding across the far left lane.
When the driver wanted to merge, a white Renault SUV was driving on the other side of the four-lane road.
The Holden squeezed between two cars before merging into the same lane as the SUV.
The rear of the Holden hit the front of the SUV, causing the car to overturn several times and roll across the highway.
The driver of the Holden lost control before the car hit the guardrail.
The collision brought the following vehicles to a standstill.

Footage of the horrific crash was shared on Facebook, with social media users expressing their shock.
“That’s scary,” someone wrote.
“The number of accidents caused by people trying to overtake in the inside lane must be staggering!” added another.
Others criticised the Holden driver for endangering the safety of motorists.
“Commodore is absolutely wrong, but this is an extreme case of drivers only keeping left to overtake,” one person wrote.
“No defense for the commodore driver,” wrote another.
“The white car is literally overtaking, following the correct use of the right lane,” added a third.
One of them responded: ‘That’s just crazy driving without any consideration.’
The driver of the Holden was initially driving in a lane that turned into a freeway exit ramp.
Under NSW road safety regulations, motorists are only allowed to drive in the right lane when overtaking.
These rules apply to drivers driving on motorways and roads where the speed limit is higher than 80 km/h.

Motorists are allowed to overtake on the left if they are driving on a multi-lane road and if it is safe to do so.
Drivers may also overtake from the left if the vehicle indicates that it wants to turn right or make a U-turn.
Motorists who commit an overtaking violation can receive three penalty points and a fine of up to $362.
