Roads have been closed after scaffolding fell from a construction site in Sydney’s CBD.
Police have cordoned off Pitt Street between Bathurst and Liverpool Street after they were called to a construction site at around 9:30 a.m. on Thursday.
Part of a crane platform fell onto an Australia Post van.
The two men in the van were reportedly unharmed.
A man in his 50s was assessed by NSW Ambulance but did not require treatment.
Photos from the scene showed the rear of the vehicle completely crushed and the roof had collapsed.
While a crane was busy lifting the scaffolding, the rope broke.
According to local resident Brayden Tory, he heard cracking sounds as he ran outside to investigate the cause of the commotion.
The incident reportedly saw part of a crane platform fall onto an Australia Post van.

“All I heard was ‘thud, thud, thud’ and then I saw that half of the (crane) frame had fallen off,” he told the Daily telegram.
The rope broke and it hit the van with a bang.
‘An elderly man dove to the side… it’s really lucky no one was killed.
‘Two meters difference and (that guy) would have been killed.’
A construction worker described it as a scene from a movie.
“It sounded like an explosion,” he said,
‘There was a huge bang, then a cracking and a clanking sound. Then a big cloud of dust went up… debris and shit everywhere.
“It looked like something out of a movie.”
