Mumbling Biden, 81, predicts what Trump will do if he loses in 2024 in first interview since he dropped out of the race

Joe Biden predicted that Donald Trump will refuse a peaceful transfer of power if the 2024 election does not go in his favor.

Biden spoke to CBS’s Robert Costa for his first interview since dramatically dropping out of the presidential race on July 21.

The first clip released featured Biden’s now-signature mumbling.

β€œIf Trump wins β€” no, I don’t have any confidence β€” I mean, if Trump loses, I don’t have any confidence,” the 81-year-old president replied when Costa asked him if he was confident there would be a peaceful transfer of power.

When Trump lost the 2020 election to Biden, he encouraged his supporters to march to the Capitol, where the Democrats’ victory was certified on January 6, 2021.

That same afternoon, those supporters were involved in a brutal attack on the US Capitol, leaving five people dead.

Trump had lied and said widespread fraud had cost him a second term.

“He means what he says, we don’t take him seriously,” Biden continued. “He means it β€” all that stuff about, if we lose there’s going to be carnage.”

Trump made the controversial “carnage” comment while talking about the damage he said Biden has done to the U.S. auto industry by advocating for the production of electric cars.

Addressing a crowd in Dayton, Ohio, earlier this year, Trump said that if he is not elected, β€œit will be a bloodbath for the country.”

Biden also pointed to the maneuverings pro-MAGA officials are making at the local level in the run-up to the November general election.

“Look what they’re trying to do now in the local precincts where people are counting votes. They’re putting people in place in states where they’re going to count votes, right?” Biden said sarcastically.

β€œYou can’t love your country only when you’re winning,” the president suggested.

The rest of Biden’s conversation with Costa will air on CBS Sunday Morning.

That’s the same program where former Speaker Nancy Pelosi interviewed Lesley Stahl the week before and played coy when asked if she was the one who pressured Biden to resign.

Biden’s interview with Costa also comes at a time when Vice President Kamala Harris, now the Democratic nominee, is facing increased pressure to give interviews.

She occasionally answers questions from reporters during her travels, but has not given an official interview since Biden withdrew from the 2024 race.
