Tom Grennan, 29, reveals he has been diagnosed with ADHD after years of being ‘unable to focus’
Tom Grennan has revealed that he has been diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) after years of being unable to ‘concentrate’ as a child.
The 29-year-old singer, who also has dyslexia, spoke candidly about his diagnosis and talked about his plans for his new album.
After discovering that he has ADHD, Tom focuses his attention on writing his new album in the United States.
According to The sunhe said, “I have ADHD and had trouble concentrating in school.
“I just found out I have ADHD. It wasn’t noticed at school. Maybe that’s why I was sitting there and couldn’t concentrate.”

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a behavioral disorder characterized by inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsiveness.
Tom revealed on Russell Howard’s Wonderbox podcast, out Wednesday, that he’s been working with famed producer Justin Tranter, who has worked with Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber.
Speaking about his new album, Tom said: ‘I’ve been in the US writing my new album and it’s been amazing. We’ve gone deep. It’s about my struggles with different aspects of my life, whether it’s alcohol or drugs. I’ve been candid about my life, from when I was a kid to now, family and relationships.’
In June, Tom admitted he was in a “sinkhole” when he spoke openly about his mental health.
The hitmaker, who has always been candid about his struggles, shared how he started writing music as a way to express his feelings.
Speaking to presenter Roman Kemp, from mental health charity YoungMinds, Tom said: ‘Something dramatic happened to me that left me at a low point.
‘I couldn’t get out of bed, I thought the whole world was against me, I thought I wasn’t good enough, I’d never been one to talk about my feelings, especially not to my friends and not to my parents.
‘Then I started making little notes in a notebook and then I picked up a guitar.

He said, “I have ADHD and I was having trouble concentrating at school. I was just told I have ADHD. It wasn’t noticed at school. Maybe that’s why I was sitting there and I couldn’t concentrate.”

The bride and groom invited only their closest family and friends to the wedding, making it an intimate affair
“And I sang the lyrics that I wrote, and that was how I told myself what was going on.”
Tom, born in Bedford, says writing down his feelings helped him develop a deeper bond with his mother.
He explained: ‘I think that’s where I, we’re talking about connection, a real connection started between me and my mother. I was able to really open up to my mother and start talking about what was going on.
“And then I went to therapy and found someone who really understood what I was going through and how it helped me to direct these thoughts and put them into context.”
In an earlier interview with Ny Breaking Australia, Tom spoke about his mental health struggles and stressed the importance of being authentic with his fans.
He said: ‘I’m not ashamed of it at all, I struggle with it and I enjoy it, but people invest in them so I think they deserve to know the truth.’
Tom recently married his girlfriend Daniella Carraturo at a luxurious estate in Mallorca.
In September 2022, it was first reported that Tom and Danniella were engaged. The singer reportedly popped the question seven months earlier.
