Balloonatics: Tourist inhales gas from balloon after crash on Spanish roundabout

  • The driver was breathalysed by Spanish police and was found to have consumed too much alcohol

This is the moment a ‘drunk’ tourist inhales laughing gas from a balloon after crashing his car on a Spanish roundabout, before revellers celebrate on his roof.

Bizarre footage shows a large group of people approaching a grey vehicle, which has crashed into a roundabout and come to a stop on a road in the Costa Brava resort of Lloret de Mar, north of Barcelona.

Video shows people at the scene of the apparent crash discovering the driver – still wearing his seat belt – inhales what appears to be laughing gas, while his confused-looking passenger tries to adjust to the surreal scenes.

Meanwhile, noisy Young people who approached the car found the incident, which took place just before 6 a.m. on Sunday morning, a reason to celebrate.

While the two men were still in the Cupra Formentor, they surrounded the vehicle, shouting and chanting. Then at least two of them took turns climbing onto the roof and jumping up and down while others took videos.

The video footage begins by showing a gray vehicle stopped on a road in the Costa Brava resort of Lloret de Mar

The person filming the car then walks over to the vehicle and sees that the driver (right) still has his seat belt on and is inhaling nitrous oxide.

Police breathalysed the driver upon arrival and found him to be intoxicated. He also failed a cannabis test, according to local reports.

The unnamed man, described by police sources as a tourist, was arrested after the results of drink and drug tests came in.

CCTV footage obtained by police reportedly showed him driving at high speed before crashing.

It is not believed he was tested for nitrous oxide use, despite the fact that there is video footage suggesting he inhaled nitrous oxide.

In May, two British tourists were filmed fighting at a Majorca resort, alleging ‘bad behaviour’ by holidaymakers.

One of the women was wearing a thong, but that didn’t stop her from putting her rival in a chokehold and then attacking a Good Samaritan who tried to separate them, before turning her attention back to her rival.

Witnesses cheered on the duo, who made a spectacle of themselves with their late-night show.

A group of British women watched from a safe distance, shouting, “Fight, fight, fight,” as they pushed and punched each other.

It is not entirely clear why the brunette involved in the violence, who appeared very unsteady on her feet as she was lifted from the ground, was only partially dressed, with most of her backside exposed in her unusual combat gear.

The incident took place at Cala d’Or on the south-east coast of Mallorca, in an area packed with bars and restaurants, hours after regional government officials announced tougher legislation to crack down on drunken tourism in party resorts on the island, including parts of Magaluf.

It was also reported last night that nine Dutch tourists aged between 18 and 20 had been arrested after allegedly causing almost £1,800 worth of damage to a hotel in S’Arenal, on the eastern side of Playa de Palma in Mallorca.

They are said to have made a large hole in the wall between two rooms at the three-star MLL Palma Bay Club Resort before leaving the hotel without officially checking out.

They were arrested at Mallorca airport as they tried to fly home and were taken to court on Monday. A judge confiscated their passports and told them they would not get them back until they paid the damages they were accused of.
