Emmerdale star Lisa Riley SLAMS influencer’s pricey ‘bull****’ engagements and reveals heartbreaking reason why she won’t marry her partner of ten years
Lisa Riley has slammed influencers for their extravagant ‘bull****’ engagements shared on social media, calling them a waste of money while ruling out her own wedding.
The 48-year-old Emmerdale star, who has been together with her partner Al, 54, for ten years, wonders what happened to the traditional, demure question.
Narrate The sun: ‘The cost of weddings is ridiculous. Since the pandemic it has gone through the roof, people aren’t getting engaged anymore, they’re getting Insta-engaged. They’re spending £400 on the right backdrop for their Instagram photo.’
Before joking: ‘No bullshit, that’s who I am. I will always only speak the truth.’
An example of an extravagant engagement is that between Tommy Fury and Molly-Mae Hague, after the boxer popped the question on a picturesque cliff covered in rose petals in Ibiza last summer.

He also arranged for Irish singer RuthAnne to fly to the country to perform her song The Vow live at the proposal, during which Molly-Mae was presented with a diamond ring worth $600K.
Lisa said she and Al would rather spend the money on traveling and discovering new things that “enrich” them.
She went on to say that the couple had ruled out tying the knot because they couldn’t possibly imagine the big day without their deceased loved ones.
Lisa lost her beloved mother Cath to breast cancer in 2012, and earlier this year she also lost her Strictly partner and friend Robin Windsor.
Speaking to the publication, “Their deaths are unfortunately the circle of life, although. There are joyful circles, like our nieces and nephews, life is not easy for anyone.”
Lisa previously admitted that she felt ‘ashamed’ of the grief over her mother Cath’s death and that others felt she ‘should be over it by now’.
In an exclusive interview with MailOnline, the Mandy Dingle star said: ‘I suffer every day and feel stupid for having such bad grief as I do when I play such a camp, full-bodied, fun character in Emmerdale. I still have to muster the bravado every day.
‘People look at us in the eyes of the audience and think, “Oh, everything is fine and good,” when in reality it’s not. It wasn’t until everyone heard my sadness, podcast last year, they realized how much I struggle privately.’

Meanwhile in June Lisa tribute paid to Robin Windsor in emotional speech at The British LGBT Prices 2024.
Upon receiving the Posthumous Award, she praised the ‘lively and energetic’ dancer with ‘a passion for life’.
Beloved professional Latin and Ballroom star Robin appeared on the BBC show between 2010 and 2013, where she was teamed up with Lisa in 2012.
Tragically, he was found dead in a London hotel in February at the age of 44. The cause of death has not yet been released.
The annual event, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, aims to celebrate the diverse achievements and contributions of the LGBTQ+ community.
During her emotional speech, obtained by the BBCLisa said: ‘The mental health of the gay community is really bad, and if I can help in any way… then I’ve done my bit.
‘I wish he was here, he’d be on my arm, covered in glitter and having a party, but the energy he had is etched in my heart. He’d be shining down and smiling at us.
She further revealed that they have both ruled out tying the knot as they can’t imagine the day without their deceased loved ones – including late mother Cath.

“His liveliness, energy and zest for life were there for all to see. He was not a hidden gay man, he was a proud, proud gay man.”
The dancer died unexpectedly in February at the age of 44. Shortly before his death, Windsor had spent time in South Africa, where he performed on a luxury cruise ship with Grandosek, a Slovenian ballroom star.
It has not yet been revealed how he died, but he spoke openly about his mental health issues and the fact that he was in a dark period before leaving London, and kept postponing his return.
He told a friend that he did not want to return to the UK because of an unknown incident during New Year’s Eve.
His aunt then thanked his fans, saying: ‘The tributes have been a great comfort to me and the whole family on days when we needed it most.
“He was out and living his best life, a proud gay man who wanted to show himself. When we look at this beautiful award, we smile back and feel closer to him.”
