- It brings Australia’s gold medal tally to 13
The Fox family took home all the gold medals in Paris. Noemie joined her sister Jessica in winning the kayak cross, an Olympic champion.
The 27-year-old was unstoppable in the new Olympic whitewater event, winning every round and also winning the four-paddler final at the Vaires-sur-Marne Nautical Stadium on Monday.
Fox crossed the finish line first, ahead of Frances Angele Hug, while Britain’s reigning world champion Kimberley Woods won bronze.
Woods held on to the lead but struggled to clear a gate upstream at the end of the race, allowing Fox to drive quickly to the finish.
Fox was joined in the water by Jessica, who also jumped in to celebrate.
“I’m just in awe of her,” Jess told Nine.
“It’s just unbelievable. She’s an Olympic champion. She’s an Olympic champion and she’s worked so hard for it. She’s just… oh, I’m so happy for her. I’m so happy for her.”
While reflecting on what Noemie’s win means for the family, Jess joked: “It means poor dad (Richard) is the only one without an Olympic medal!”

Noemie has long been a world-class caravan, but she has never competed at the Olympics before. Her sister, a superstar, took the only available Australian selection spot.
But the addition of the splash and dash event in Paris opened up an extra spot for Noemie to qualify, along with her 30-year-old sister.
After winning the slalom double, in K1 and C1, Jessica was the victim of a kayak crossing early in her race, while Noemie won their heat.
