Olympic mixed doubles champions who broke up as a real-life couple just weeks ago share a kiss after clinching gold – as fans go wild with speculation that they may be getting back together

The Olympic mixed doubles tennis champions shared a kiss to celebrate winning gold, just weeks after the pair split as a couple.

Czech duo Katerina Siniakova and Tomas Machac defeated Chinese duo Zhang Zhizhen and Wang Xinyu 6-2 5-7 10-8 to win the event in Paris last night.

The couple, who have been in a relationship since 2020, announced their split last month at the Prague Open, but stressed that they would still compete as a team at the Olympics despite their off-court issues.

Siniakova said: ‘Yes, of course. It’s a private matter, but of course we play together. We are professionals.’

Fans are now over the moon after the seemingly reconciliatory moment and are speculating whether the two might get back together.

Bastien Fachan went to X to fuel the rumors of a possible reunion, sarcastically remarking, “Yes, Machac and Siniakova have definitely broken up.”

He then added, “Normalize winning Olympic gold to rekindle the spark in your relationship.”

One user responded: ‘We all need to compete in the Olympics sometimes to spice up our relationships.’

Another suggested that their relationship depended on success at the Games, writing: ‘She said, “You have to help me win the Olympic gold medal to win me back,” and he did.’

Meanwhile, a social media user added: ‘It’s so poetic if they really had broken up and these last days of winning and achieving gold finally brought them back together.’

Not many couples can overcome such a public breakup as theirs, but the duo’s victory was highly likely. Siniakova in particular was one of the best doubles players in the world.

The 28-year-old won gold in women’s doubles in Tokyo three years ago with her partner Barbora Krejcikova. Together they have won seven Grand Slam trophies, including the Wimbledon titles in 2018 and 2022.

This summer, the Czech achieved another victory at the All England Club with his new partner Taylor Townsend from the USA.

Most recently, Siniakova encouraged Machac when he lost in the third round to Daniil Medvedev at Roland Garros in June.

Despite their split, the pair displayed a cheerful atmosphere throughout the tournament, even joking: “The chemistry is very good.”

However, Machac confirmed that they slept separately in the Olympic village, but that they said goodnight after dinner and good morning every day.

On the topics of conversation off the field, Machac said Clay tennis: ‘Normally we don’t talk about tennis.

“We don’t do it together and I don’t do it with other people in other contexts.”

Those waiting to see how their relationship develops will have to be patient, as the teammates remain reserved about the possibility of a reconciliation.

“That’s our private life, so you don’t need to know,” Siniakova grinned.

“We like it when you’re confused.”

Machac replied, “This is top secret.”
