People who watch abuse images need psychological treatment | Letters

As painful as it was to read about the trials and tribulations of Matthew and his family (We Had a Normal Marriage. Then I Discovered My Husband Had Viewed Child Abuse Footage, July 27), it was a relief to see that they are getting the help they desperately need. But given the scale of the problem (NSPCC investigation In 2021, there were over 100,000 child abuse image crimes recorded by UK police in the past five years), it can be helpful for people to know of at least one other source of help; the Portman Clinic in London is an NHS facility that offers psychological treatment and support to people struggling with problematic sexual behaviour. More information can be found at tavistockandportman.nhs.ukAnyone seeking help can register themselves or seek help through their GP before they get into trouble with the law.
