Chicago P.D. adds Warrior Nun actress Toya Turner to main cast of ahead of season 12… marking her third venture into One Chicago universe

Former Warrior Nun star Toya Turner has joined the main cast of Chicago PD for a brand new regular role beginning in the upcoming Season 12.

The actress has been tipped to play Kiana Cook, according to TV Linoa police officer who “loves the adrenaline” of her job and the challenges that come with it, “who doesn’t blink in the face of chaos,” although her character was previously called Yara Page.

Turner is no stranger to the One Chicago universe, having previously guest-starred on Chicago Fire and Chicago Med, but playing a different character each time.

Another aspect of the Windy City is that the Jamaican-American actress spent most of her childhood in Chicago.

Turner’s entry into the police series, a spin-off of Chicago Fire, comes hot on the heels of Tracy Spiridakos’ departure from the NBC series after eight seasons as Detective Hailey Upton Halstead, seven of which he starred in.

This isn’t the first time Turner has appeared in a One Chicago series during her acting career.

When she makes her debut on Chicago PD, it will actually be her third time on One Chicago, and she is one of the few actors to play three different characters in three seasons.

The actress, 33, played Peaches, a prostitute, who appeared in episode four of season two, as reported by Hello! magazine, and a character named Jayna in the season two premiere of Chicago Med.

Turner was recently seen in the Netflix series Warrior Nun.

Her Hollywood resume also includes a recurring role on NBC’s New Amsterdam, a guest role on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy, Netflix’s Easy and Fox’s The Mick and Empire, as reported by Deadline.

Her most notable film role was in the independent film Dead Women Walking, which premiered at the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival.

As a theater actress, she played in Raisin In The Sun (A Noise Within Theater in Los Angeles) and Blues for An Alabama Sky (Court Theater in Chicago).

Created by Dick Wolf and Matt Olmstead, Chicago PD premiered on NBC in January 2014 as a mid-season replacement.
