Heartbreak for Mollie O’Callaghan after stunning result for Aussie golden girl at the Olympic Games

Mollie O’Callaghan failed to qualify for the women’s 100m freestyle final in Paris.
O’Callaghan (20) had beaten teammate Ariarne Titmus in the women’s 200m freestyle final on Monday, but she was unable to repeat her strong performance on Wednesday evening, as she finished fourth.
Sweden’s Sarah Sjoestroem was the fastest, winning in 52.16 seconds, while USA’s Torrie Huske (52.29) took silver and Hong Kong’s Siobhan Bernadette Haughey took bronze.
O’Callaghan, who was aiming to become the third woman to complete a golden double in the 100-200m freestyle at the same Olympics, was second best with 52.34.
Jack recorded a time of 52.72 as the Australians failed to make up ground on the final lap after taking their finishing position.
