Ed Sheeran gives a rare glimpse into family life with Cherry Seaborn

He usually remains very closed about his family life.

But Ed Sheeran gave a rare insight into fatherhood after he welcomed his second child with wife Cherry Seaborn on Friday.

The singer, 31, joked that the pair are now “in the trenches” as they raise their daughter Lyra Antarctica, two, and their newest addition, Jupiter.

Speaking on Good Morning America, about how he feels about fatherhood, he explained, “It’s great. We’re in the trenches.’

He gave even more insight, adding: “They’ve been on tour with me. My second daughter was born while we were on tour, but my first daughter comes to the shows, she knows that very well.

“But I think she assumes everyone else’s dad sings too,” Ed joked.

“It’s every cliché people say about parenting. You love both children exactly the same but also completely different. I really enjoy being a father of two,” he continued.

Ed shocked fans in May when he revealed that he and Cherry had secretly welcomed another daughter, announcing that he was “over the moon to be a family of four.”

The Shape Of You hitmaker took to Instagram to share a photo of a pair of white baby booties, captioned, “Just want to let you all know we got another gorgeous girl. We are both so in love with her, and overjoyed to be a family of 4 x’

The star had announced Lyra’s birth in a similar fashion, sharing a photo of her baby socks on a blanket next to his post.

The couple reportedly only trusted their close relatives about the pregnancy.

Ed’s spokesperson confirmed: ‘Ed and Cherry recently welcomed a beautiful girl and are over the moon.

Surprise! It comes after Ed announced the family’s shocking news that they had secretly welcomed another child earlier this year, saying he and Cherry were “openly”

“They are so excited that Lyra has a sister and that the four of them are now enjoying some precious family time before Ed goes on tour again.

“We are very happy for them and we hope you can respect their privacy during this special time.”

During a speech on the Open House Party podcast in June, Ed revealed that he would be “super grateful” to add more members to his family.

The West Yorkshire-born star said: ‘Of course I would be super grateful if I could have even more children, but I think girls are much better than boys. As a boy I feel like I can say this.

“I feel like we’ve been so lucky to have one that I think I’d love more of course. But I think we’re so lucky to only have one. So if nothing else happens, I’m actually so happy.’

In November, Ed revealed that having his daughter Lyra Antarctica was a “blessing” and a “miracle” after he struggled to conceive with wife Cherry.

The singer shared how the couple had made doctor’s appointments to make sure everything was okay after “trying to have a child for a while.”

They then welcomed their first child last August, after falling naturally pregnant during a 2019 vacation to Antarctica — which inspired the unusual name.
