Chelsea have signed 22-year-old goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen from Villarreal and will immediately fly the young goalkeeper to the United States, where he will train under Enzo Maresca.

Jorgensen is seen as an ideal candidate for Maresca’s style of play and was in Atlanta for training at the Pace Academy after his £21million move was completed on Tuesday.

Maresca was keen to add a new goalkeeper to his squad to enhance his bid for play from the back. Chelsea’s goalkeepers have been doing passing drills during training.

Now that Jorgensen has been signed, the club must find a new home for Kepa Arrizabalaga, who spent last season on loan at Real Madrid.

Djordje Petrovic could also leave with Robert Sanchez, Marcus Bettinelli, Lucas Bergstrom and Eddie Beach, the goalkeepers currently playing for Chelsea on their tour of the United States.
