After French diver sends Olympic fans wild with his skimpy swimwear, we reveal the athletes whose budgie smugglers have got them into a spot of bother

When Alexis Jandard posted a photo from behind the scenes at the Paris Olympics earlier this week, the French diver was probably just hoping for some words of encouragement from his loyal fans.

But instead, the 27-year-old Olympian inadvertently sparked a social media frenzy as sports fans fell head over heels for his diving partner Jules Bouyer and his rather tiny swimming trunks.

In the Instagram post, the 22-year-old can be seen giving the camera a thumbs up ahead of their synchronized jumping event.

One fan responded enthusiastically online: ‘This is the only reason I love the Olympics.’

Another added: ‘He’s a real Speedo.’

“Those Speedos are really working overtime now,” wrote a third.

Meanwhile, a fourth joked: ‘I really hope his Speedo gets paid 1.5 times as much.’

However, Jules isn’t the only Olympic athlete whose swimming trunks have caused a stir on social media.

Florent Manaudou, Jules and Alexis’ teammate, has also gained a large fan base online. Earlier this week, there was even a fan base that raved about his ‘divine body’.

Another added: ‘What a figure, a mullet and a moustache. Hmm.’

In 2018, Tom Daley revealed that he had made an annoying wardrobe malfunction three years earlier during the World Series.

He put it on his Youtube Channel: ‘I fell in the water and I forgot to pull up my swimming trunks. So I fell in the water and my swimming trunks were literally around my ankles.

‘And of course it’s live on the big screen, so my ass is sticking up on the screen. I was completely humiliated, but what can you do?

In an attempt to put an end to the social media frenzy, Henrik posted a message on the Reddit thread, writing, “This is me and I swear it’s not standing up! I don’t know why it ended up in that position but that’s the way it is.”

After the medal ceremony, Henrik’s moment was discussed on The Colbert Robert and The Daily Show in the US.

Speak with Cosmopolitan In 2016, Henrik explained: ‘I took it as a bit of a joke and thought it was hilarious, but my wife didn’t like it.

“She didn’t like that everyone was talking about that and not about the fact that I won a medal at the Olympics. And the same goes for my parents, they couldn’t ignore it at the time and I’m not happy that they had to go through that.”
