Irritated mother slams Kellogg’s for annoying change she says brand has made to its Rice Krispie treats
A businesswoman has lashed out at Kellogg’s after noticing differences in the size and quality of Rice Krispies Treats.
Ursula Perez took to TikTok on July 27 to vent her frustration after comparing Rice Krispie Treats in boxes of eight and 40 bars.
“I knew I wasn’t going crazy saying the Rice Krispie Treats are getting smaller – it’s the Rice Krispie Treats in the big boxes,” Ursula claimed in her video.
Perez, owner of Sweet Tooth Candy in California, unwrapped the treats from both packages to demonstrate the differences.
In addition to the size of the treats, Perez also pointed out the difference in color between the different treats, with one being darker than the other.

When she pulled a Rice Krispie Treat out of the box, Perez immediately called it “beautiful” and “so pretty.”
The light-colored bar was an almost perfectly rectangular shape and held firm when the businesswoman tried to crush it.
She then advised viewers to look at how small the Krispie Rice Treat was compared to the larger box.
Perez admitted that she and her employees tend to buy in bulk, partly because they assume they’re getting a “good deal.”
However, she wasn’t happy when she was able to squeeze a whole treat out of the larger box.
“We need an explanation… Why can’t we put this in this box,” Perez added.

According to Reddit users, Kellogg’s reduced the size of its Rice Krispies Treats collection earlier this year. One buyer noticed the change after purchasing a box at Costco in January.
“I opened the box I bought today and thought they felt smaller. I grabbed a wrapper from the trash and it was almost half the size,” one Reddit user wrote.
Several Reddit users suggested that consumers instead purchase ingredients to make their own Rice Krispie treats.
“They only require three ingredients, take little time to prepare, and are easy to make,” wrote one commenter.
“Plus, if you have kids, you can have a fun time making them. Plus, the pre-packaged ones taste weird compared to homemade ones.”
Users on Reddit and TikTok have noticed the difference in size and color, with several commenters suggesting that shoppers make their own treats instead of purchasing the Kellogg’s ones.
More than 1,000 TikTok users commented on Perez’s video, with many agreeing with the differences between the two sizes.
Some TikTokers pointed out the color, but one person called the differences in the bar a matter of “quality over quantity.”
“That makes sense because sometimes I get a great box, and sometimes I get a box that makes me wonder why I ever liked it,” one TikTok user wrote.
Others are interested in knowing how much each box weighs. For example, one person noted that ‘a larger box is smaller in size and therefore weighs more’.
Someone wrote: ‘The big box also looks airier. I wonder what the difference in weight is.’
