Shiloh Jolie-Pitt name change hearing to legally lose the last name Pitt is delayed due to ‘clerical error’ … as father Brad Pitt is ‘aware and upset’ of her decision

According to Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, a court hearing in the case surrounding her attempt to remove Pitt from her legal last name has been postponed due to a clerical error.

The latest development comes roughly two months after Shiloh — whose parents are A-listers Angelina Jolie, 49, and Brad Pitt, 60 — announced her intention to drop Pitt from her name after she turns 18 on May 27.

Peter Levine, who is representing Jolie-Pitt in the case, said People In a statement Monday: “Unfortunately, the court was unable to complete the background check prior to today’s hearing, so the hearing was rescheduled for August 19.”

Levine explained the logistics of the process and why Monday’s hearing in Los Angeles Superior Court was postponed.

“Anyone who files a name change petition must undergo a background check by the clerk of the court. Due to a clerical error, Shiloh’s hearing has been postponed to a new date,” Levine told the newspaper.

Jolie and Pitt, who split in 2016 and have been working on finalizing the terms of their divorce for eight years, are also parents to children Maddox (22), Zahara (19), Pax (20), Knox (15) and Vivienne (15).

In June, an insider close to Pitt said People that the Oscar-winning actor “was aware that Shiloh dropped his last name and was upset about it.”

The insider added: “The memories of losing his children are obviously not easy for Brad. He loves his children and misses them. It’s very sad.”

Shiloh published a statement in the Los Angeles Times earlier this month announcing her intention to change her legal name from Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt to Shiloh Nouvel Jolie, in accordance with state law. TMZ reported.

According to People, a legal form must be published in a newspaper a month in advance before a judge will approve a name change request.

An insider told Dailymail.com in June that “Shiloh hired her own lawyer and paid for it herself, so Angie doesn’t know and can’t speak to it. But if you’re asking if this is related to Shiloh’s history of abuse or the violation of Shiloh’s victims’ rights, yes, that is part of it.”

Jolie said Pitt had been physically aggressive toward her — shaking and pushing her — during a private jet flight in 2016, according to an FBI report on the altercation released in 2022.

Jolie told FBI authorities that Pitt told their children she had “screwed this family” and crashed into the ceiling of the plane multiple times. Jolie told officials that Pitt poured alcohol on a blanket she was using under her children in the 2016 incident.

Pitt and Jolie’s high-profile relationship began after his 2005 divorce from ex-wife Jennifer Aniston, 55.

Pitt and Jolie didn’t officially marry for years, because they had multiple children. In 2012 they got engaged and in 2014 they married.

Jolie, known for the films Maleficent, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and Girl, Interrupted, filed for divorce in 2016 and three years later both she and Pitt were declared officially single.

Pitt, the star of films such as Fight Club, Moneyball and Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, has been in a relationship with jewelry designer Ines de Ramon since 2022.
