Vincent D’Onofrio was snapped Monday in Atlanta on the set of Echo, a spinoff of Hawkeye from Marvel Studios.

The 63-year-old actor was clad in a cloud gray suit with an off-white vest and a black collared shirt with black shoes as he was seen on the set of the production.

The Emmy-nominated star, who plays the role of Kingpin/Wilson Fisk on the series, told Comicbook.com that he was contacted by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige last year about playing the role in Hawkeye.

‘Kevin called me and of course I said, “Hell yeah,”‘ the Bensonhurst, New York native said. ‘I was told from my representatives that he wanted my phone number and he called me directly.’

He continued: ‘My first thought was “Wow, maybe he’s gonna invite me to the MCU,” and that’s what he did immediately. He started talking about Hawkeye.’

Echo will also star Alaqua Cox in the titular role as well as her alter ego Maya Lopez; Zahn McClarnon as William Lopez; Devery Jacobs as Julie; and Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock.

According to a Marvel synopsis of the series, the storyline focuses on Maya Lopez as she ‘must face her past, reconnect with her Native American roots and embrace the meaning of family and community if she ever hopes to move forward.’

D’Onofrio initially played the role of Kingpin/Wilson Fisk on the former series Daredevil, which ran on Netflix from 2015-2018. He was pictured in NYC last year

The actor spoke about the role in an interview with TV Line last December, when he said the history of his character from Daredevil had continuity with what was depicted in Hawkeye.

‘That’s how I played him in that,’ he said, adding, ‘I think that was the general idea.’

He said of the character: ‘Obviously in the show he’s physically stronger and can take more physical abuse, but emotionally and as far as the history was discussed about what’s been going on, was done with connecting as many dots to Daredevil to Hawkeye as possible.

‘There are obviously things we can’t connect; as far as how I play him and the history that I carry myself from, and into Hawkeye, he is the same guy.’

The veteran actor said of playing Kingpin/Wilson Fisk: ‘There’s many facets of the character that could be explored’

Asked about the creative changes to his character, including the use of a cane, the actor said, ‘I’m a huge fan of this stuff, so you know like all the fans out there and so it was great, I mean it all made sense to me, because the last time you see me in Daredevil, there’s a pretty brutal fight between him and Daredevil – and so the cane made sense to me.’

He said of his character’s interactions with the character Maya Lopez, ‘The thing about Wilson Fisk is that people are always suspect what he’s actually thinking and that’s what’s cool about it – there’s a way to play that character where you just don’t know if he’s really feeling anything but his own narcissism.’

D’Onofrio said of the character’s long-term prospects: ‘There is hopes that I have that he continues – well for selfish reasons because I love playing the character so much – but I also think story wise there’s many facets of the character that could be explored.’

The series is slated to debut on Disney+ in the summer of 2023.
