Jill Biden cheers on Team USA gymnastics at Olympics after claiming the ‘magic of Hollywood’ can top Paris at LA 2028

Jill Biden supported Team USA athletes on the first official day of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris on Saturday.

The First Lady, just days after her husband Joe Biden passed the torch to Kamala Harris, cheered on the U.S. gymnastics team at the Olympics kickoff in front of a star-studded crowd.

Biden was joined by Olympic gold medalists Dawn Staley and Bart Conner, U.S. Ambassador to France Denise Campbell Bauer and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass at the Bercy Arena.

However, the American gymnasts had no idea Biden was watching them until they finished their competition.

β€œI walked up and they were like, β€˜Oh, Jill Biden is here.’ What? That’s really amazing,” Brody Malone said, via USA Today.

β€œI wish I had shown her a cooler floor routine,” Frederick Richard joked.

Biden appeared impressed with his performance as she got into the spirit of the event and clapped throughout.

The Americans also met Biden, who expressed her pride and the country’s pride in them.

“I’m just a gymnast from Deerfield, Illinois,” Paul Juda said. “She said everybody back home is supporting us, (including) the president β€” that’s just crazy.”

Later in the day she went to the Grand Palais, where the battle for gold will be fought in the heart of the French capital.

This isn’t the First Lady’s first time at the Olympics. She also showed her support for her fellow Americans at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics as one of the few people allowed to sit in the stands due to strict Covid-19 restrictions.

Earlier on Saturday, she advocated for the next Olympic Games, which will be held in Los Angeles, United States, in 2028.

β€œI want to thank all of the elected officials from the United States for everything they have done to support the 2028 Olympic Games,” Biden said as she addressed the crowd at a Team USA brunch.

‘Thanks to you, the Olympic flame will shine brightly again in our country.

‘[…] Last night was spectacular. The rain couldn’t dampen our spirits. Every step I took I thought to myself, ‘Oh my god, how are we going to top this?’

‘So Purples has the Eiffel Tower, but we have Hollywood and the magic of Hollywood that makes all dreams come true, so I think we’ll be fine.’

Jill, who was in the Oval Office on Wednesday night as her husband passed the torch to Kamala Harris, cheered on Team USA as the torch was lit during the opening ceremony of the Summer Olympics on Friday.

The rain couldn’t dampen her enthusiasm as the First Lady stood in the stands and cheered her on.

The first stood with other world leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte, to watch the athletes arrive at the stadium beneath the Eiffel Tower.
