Taylor Swift fans celebrate one year anniversary of Travis Kelce shooting his shot at pop star on ‘New Heights’ podcast
A year after he took his chance and missed it, Taylor Swift fans celebrated the anniversary of Travis Kelce’s “shot” at the pop star and praised his perseverance.
On July 26, 2023, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end revealed on an episode of the New Heights podcast that he wanted to give Swift a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it.
While that attempt was one of the few times he failed at Arrowhead Stadium, the pair and their fairytale romance would later make headlines, as they continue to do today. As a result, Swifties took to X to commend his bravery.
Forever Grateful for Friendship Bracelet, New Heights and Jason [Kelce] “being a curious big brother,” one user wrote.
“Travis Kelce caught Taylor Swift’s attention exactly one year ago today,” wrote another. “The rest is history.”

A third called their story a “true romantic comedy.”
Meanwhile, a fourth said: ‘Well Travis, you knew what you wanted and boy did you get her.’
Before Kelce, Swift dated actor Joe Alwyn for six years. Three months after their breakup, Swift performed a concert in Kansas City, where the Chiefs tight end tried to reach her, but to no avail.
After Kelce opened his podcast and admitted defeat, he finally caught Swift’s attention.
“I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her performances because she has to conserve her voice for the 44 songs she sings,” Kelce said at the time.

When Jason tried to clarify whether his sibling was talking about his phone number or jersey number, Travis replied, “You know which one.”
“She doesn’t meet anybody — or at least she didn’t want to meet me. So I took it personally,” the three-time Super Bowl winner added.
Swift later admitted that they went on a few unnoticed dates before tying the knot during a Chiefs-Bears game in September.
We started dating right away [the podcast episode]’, Swift said in the interview.
“We actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because that’s how we got to know each other,” she clarified. “I think some people think, did they see our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to launch a first date hard.”
