Wisconsin football lineman Logan Brown ‘dismissed from program after a fight in practice’

Wisconsin offensive lineman Logan Brown may be entering the transfer portal, but reports say it may not have been his choice – rather it was the only option.

Brown allegedly punched a teammate during practice on Wednesday, leading to interim head coach Jim Leonhard removing him from the team, according to the report. Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

“The reality of what happened is that there was an internal incident here within the program and Logan Brown was fired from the program,” Leonhard told reporters on Thursday. “It wasn’t a choice. He’s been kicked out of the program.’

Brown was allowed to enter the portal due to new rules in the system allowing players to access the transfer portal within 30 days of a major coaching change. Wisconsin fired Paul Chryst as head coach in early October.

Without the new rules — or if Chryst hadn’t been fired — Brown would have had to wait until December 5 to enter the portal.

Chryst amassed a record of 67-26 overall and a record of 43-18 in the Big Ten over eight seasons, but had a rocky start to the 2022 season with a 2-3 record overall and a 0-2 -start in conference game.

Wisconsin took its first Big Ten win of the season under Leonhard, beating Northwestern 42-7.

The Badgers face the struggling Michigan State Spartans this Saturday.
