Legendary US rapper Snoop Dogg to carry Olympic torch through the streets of Paris ahead of the opening ceremony

A legendary American rapper will be the torchbearer at the Paris Olympics, ahead of the opening ceremony.

The opening ceremony takes place on Friday, with more than 10,000 athletes gathering in boats on the River Seine.

Before that, rapper Snoop Dogg will carry a torch through the Parisian suburb of Saint-Denis, their mayor confirmed on X.

Snoop Dogg, whose real name is Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., will do the honors on Friday, while French actress Laetitia Casta and French rapper MC Solaar will also pass the torch.

Snoop Dogg, 52, will also contribute to NBC’s Olympic coverage. In a statement to the network in December, he went on to explain his love for the Games.

“It is a celebration of craftsmanship, dedication and the pursuit of greatness.”

The artist is from the Los Angeles area, where the 2028 Olympic Games will be held.

Last month, he showed his support for Team USA when he attended the track and field events.

The rapper even got to run on the track in Eugene, Oregon and met Sha’Carri Richardson before she qualified for the Olympics.

After Snoop Dogg passes the torch before the opening ceremony, Lebron James will be the flag bearer for Team USA.
