TV actor dies aged 39 after falling off his balcony after drinking with friends
Brazilian actor Thommy Schiavo has died at the age of 39 after falling from the balcony of his second-floor apartment.
Schiavo, best known for his roles in network television soap operas, fell from an estate in Cuiabá early Saturday morning, Mato Grosso police said.
Investigators reviewed surveillance cameras on the property, which showed him sitting down and then lying down on the ground.
After lying on the ground for several minutes, Schiavo stood up, but lost his balance and fell over the railing.
The married father of one fell approximately 13 feet and was found lying face down. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Schiavo had gone for drinks with friends at a convenience store before returning to his two-story studio apartment.
Schiavo was known for his acting talent in Brazilian soap operas.
His last acting job was in the second season of Pantanal, which aired on TV Globo in 2021. He played the role of João Zoinho, a cowboy.
According to Brazilian news outlet G1, the production company also used Schiavo’s knowledge of horses to train actors in the soap opera who could not ride horses.

Schiavo’s father, Horácio Ramos, told TV Fronteira that his son had just finished filming a new soap series when his friends called his brother-in-law to tell him the sad news.
“It’s a painful moment, it hurts so much that there’s no way to explain it,” Ramos said. “We spoke every day, every day it was ‘good morning, good afternoon,’ he called me for everything, I called him for everything. He was such a sweet person.
Schiavo graduated from the theater school in Rio de Janeiro in 2006, after which he began his acting career. He appeared in four soap operas for TV Globo, including Além de Tempo (Beyond Time) and Beleza Pura (Pure Beauty).
“Thommy was a wonderful person, loved by everyone,” Ramos said. “The people at Globo are all in shock. He is a very loved person at Globo. He went there and won the people over, with his simple, humble way. Loved by everyone.”
