The former Strictly Come Dancing winner opted for a pair of high-heeled shoes to increase her stature by a few inches.

She wore a lot of makeup to accentuate her beautiful features and wore her blond hair pinned behind her head.

The star wore a pair of gold earrings and a pair of bracelets of the same color on each of her wrists.

This year’s NTAs were broadcast live from a brand new location of Wembley’s OVO Arena with Joel Dommett hosting.

Sir Lenny Henry received the coveted gold Special Recognition Award at the annual ceremony on Thursday evening.

This year’s National Television Awards honored the 64-year-old and his pioneering career on British television, spanning nearly 50 years.

Famous fans paid tribute to the comedian and fundraising Comic Relief frontman when the awards were broadcast live on ITV from the OVO Arena, Wembley.

Sir Lenny has been a mainstay on TV for nearly 50 years, starting with his 1975 win over New Faces at age 16, leading to further accolades in such era-defining shows as Tiswas and Three of a Kind.

He broke new ground for black talent and then enjoyed huge success with his own sketch comedy series before playing a key role in the formation of Comic Relief.

More recent projects have seen him diversify into acting, most notably on stage as Othello and on screen in the big-budget Amazon Prime series, Lord of the Rings: the Rings of Power.

Among those who congratulated Sir Lenny on his achievements as a writer, campaigner, comedian and broadcaster was Hollywood superstar Whoopi Goldberg, who said: ‘If you want to know what a superhero looks like, take a look at Sir Lenny Henry.’

Notable winners at the ceremony – held at the OVO Arena in Wembley, London – included Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly for Best Presenter, Anton Du Beke for TV Judge, Peaky Blinders for Returning Drama and Emmerdale for Serial Drama.

This morning took home the Daytime gong, with host Phillip Schofield saying the award “means so much to us every year, especially this year.”

Phillip took the podium after the win and said: ‘Please don’t think we’ll ever get boarding and please don’t think we’ll ever take it for granted. This means so much to us every year, especially this year. We have the best boss.’

Holly added: ‘This morning has a very special relationship with you, you make our show for us, really. All these guys on stage here, Alison [Hammond] and Dermot [O’Leary]Rochelle [Humes] and Vernon [Kay]Josie [Gibson], everybody. Thank you for all your help.’

Financial advisor Martin Lewis won the first Expert gong at the 2022 National Television Awards as the cost of living crisis deepens.

He said he didn’t expect to win as one of his fellow nominees in the new category was Sir David Attenborough, along with Jay Blades and Kaleb Cooper.

The financial journalist who became the founder of Moneysupermarket.com told the crowd in London’s Wembley Area on Thursday when he picked up his trophy: ‘When you go up against a treasure like David Attenborough, you don’t expect to win. Who said we have enough experts, we don’t have. We need them more than ever.

“It has been a pretty awful year financially. I’m afraid that next year, with the mortgage problem and rent increases, it’s going to get pretty bad and we’re going to need someone to get a handle on the economy and get things better.

“I’ll leave that to my show next Tuesday—this nerd’s going to party tonight.”

Other big winners at the ceremony were Anton Du Beke for TV Judge, Peaky Blinders for Returning Drama, Lenny Henry for the Special Recognition Award and ITV’s Thriller Point for Best New Drama, accepted by actress Vicky McClure.

She said: ‘What’s incredible about the NTAs – it’s the fans and viewers and that’s what television is all about.

“I want to thank Jed Mercurio (show writer) and our wonderful directors and everyone who contributed to this.”

When thanking his wife Hannah Summers and executive producer Sarah James for his win, Strictly Come Dancing judge Anton said, “Thank you to everyone who voted, who watched the show. Thanks to my wife.

“Sarah James…let me tell you about Sarah James. I love this woman, she is the amazing thing that can happen to television, thank you for giving me the job. That’s why I love her, I won’t deny that. Thank you very much.’

Members of England’s lionesses football team presented Peaky Blinders with Returning Drama, with the show’s creator and screenwriter Steven Knight saying in his acceptance speech that he intended to make it into a movie.

He said: ‘Thank you to all our fans. It’s been a great journey. It’s become a global affair and the most important thing is the British fans who saw it early on, made it what it is and that’s what it’s all about.

‘We will continue, we will make a film, we will start filming in the spring.’

Matt Lucas presented the Comedy Award, which went to Ricky Gervais’ After Life.

Ricky – who previously advised award winners at the Golden Globes to keep their victory speeches short and without political and ‘awake’ statements – said: ‘Thank you so much – a real surprise.

‘I’ll be brief – my feet are deadly. Thanks to the great cast and crew. Thank you to Netflix and thank you to everyone who voted.”

Emmerdale won the best series of drama on shows, including EastEnders and Neighbours, which was nominated after its 37 years on TV ended in July.

The late The Wanted singer Tom Parker, who died in March at age 33 after battling brain cancer, was posthumously nominated for his documentary, Inside My Head.

The category winner was ITV presenter Kate Garraway’s documentary about caring for her Covid-stricken husband Derek, who is believed to be Britain’s longest-suffering patient with the disease.
