Kamala Harris’ talk show host and ex-boyfriend Montel Williams reveals who he thinks should lead the Democratic ticket… after surprise show of support after Biden withdrew

Talk show host Montel Williams may have had a brief relationship with Kamala Harris, but that doesn’t mean she can count on his support.

As news spread that President Joe Biden was withdrawing and endorsing his vice president, Williams took to social media to say he was ready to campaign.

But not necessarily for her. Instead, he said he was ready to throw his weight behind Wes Moore, the governor of Maryland and someone seen as a future presidential candidate or VP pick in 2024.

β€œI would like to see Wes Moore at the top of my ballot, or somewhere else, and I am ready to campaign,” he wrote on X.

β€œI’ve watched Wes Moore lead my home state of Maryland, and I know leadership when I see it.”

Moore is a rising star in the Democratic Party and was only the third black man ever elected governor.

But his comments quickly raised eyebrows, as Williams had a brief relationship with Harris more than 20 years ago.

A number of more messages followed.

β€œIs anyone surprised that I’m interested in a politician who also went to the Naval Academy and whose leadership impressed me?” he asked, after reposting Moore’s vice presidential recommendation.

When his comments were picked up by celebrity channel TMZ, he gave an explanation, saying he was prepared to support the party’s candidate.

He was clearly ready for some scrutiny, even before old photos of him and Harris surfaced.

He used a message to discourage reporters from asking him questions about Harris.

β€œI’ve said what I’m going to say about the trend that’s becoming more and more popular,” he wrote.

“My friends in the media should think twice before wasting their time on a photo that is over 20 years old. You will find that this will provoke an unpleasant reaction.”

Harris is in pole position to take over the party’s nomination after Biden announced Sunday that he will not seek re-election.

He endorsed Harris as his successor, and she quickly cemented her position with support from legislators and state parties.
