Rita Ora has revealed she has ‘stopped trying to impress people’ since teaming up with her New Zealand husband, director and actor Taika Waititi.

The 33-year-old How We Do hitmaker secretly married the 48-year-old JoJo Rabbit writer in 2022, but the couple didn’t announce their marriage until the following year.

Rita graced the cover of Marie Claire Spain for the August issue, where she wore a series of stunning looks from her ‘Festival’ Primark collection, including a daring gold sheer dress and a black busty corset.

During an interview for the article, she gave a candid confession about the biggest lesson she’s learned since getting married.

“I don’t try to impress people anymore,” Rita said. “And I wish I had before I got married, because it doesn’t make any difference.”

“You just have to live your own life and, you know, when I was in my 20s, I always thought that everyone else was doing that. And I was trying to impress everyone. And it’s really exhausting.”

Rita added: ‘I think in life you have to be happy with yourself, but you also have to make the change yourself.

“If you don’t like something, you should make that decision for yourself, not for others.”

In the interview, Rita also talked about her upbringing in Notting Hill, London, after being born in Yugoslavia [modern day Kosovo] to Albanian parents.

“I grew up in an environment with many different cultures and ethnicities. I was a girl from another country, but my class was full of immigrants,” she said.

‘And I think that’s why I love London. It’s a mix of the most different and cool people, and from everywhere. I’ve been very lucky because I’ve never felt “different”.’

Rita looked stunning for the cover shoot, wearing a racy, sequin-encrusted midi skirt with hip-high leg slits held together by metal loops.

Ask & You Shall Receive is Rita’s latest release following the success of her 2023 top 10 album You & I.

Rita had this to say about the latest release: ‘The song is full of happy, summery vibes and is about romantically seizing the moment and diving right in with that special someone.’

“It’s co-written by the amazing Raye, and that feels like a full circle moment. I have so many great memories of us touring together for the Phoenix tour.”

The singer even managed to get her husband Taika Waititi to appear in the racy clip, although the Hollywood director was only supposed to appear on the day of filming.
