Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain ‘offered to British clubs with Besiktas looking to remove former Liverpool star from their wage bill’

  • Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain joined Besiktas on a free transfer last summer
  • The Englishman scored four goals in 30 appearances in his first debut season
  • The Turkish club could sell the player or loan him out.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has reportedly been offered to British clubs by Besiktas.

The former Arsenal and Liverpool player turns 31 in August and could be considered for a loan move if a club is willing to pay the majority of his salary, according to The sun.

Oxlade-Chamberlain currently earns around £70,000-a-week at Besiktas, who he joined on a free transfer last summer.

The Englishman made 30 appearances in all competitions in his first season for the Turkish club, scoring four goals and providing one assist.

It was a relatively disappointing season for Besiktas, who finished sixth in the Turkish Super Lig.

Former Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst took over the club in June and wants to reform the squad.

Oxlade-Chamberlain could be given permission to leave so he can be taken off the age limit, with several British clubs reportedly interested.

The 29-year-old made 146 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool after joining from Arsenal for £35million in 2017.

Oxlade-Chamberlain was part of the Liverpool team that secured the club’s first Premier League trophy in 2020 and was also part of the team that won the League Cup two years later.

However, injuries have kept him out of action in recent seasons and the attacking midfielder made just four Premier League starts last season as Jurgen Klopp’s side failed to secure Champions League football.
