Lady Gaga pays tribute to her dear friend Tony Bennett on the one year anniversary of his death: ‘Miss you’

Lady Gaga celebrated one year since the death of her close friend Tony Bennett at the age of 96 on Saturday.

In a touching post on Instagram, the 38-year-old Shallow singer reflected on their friendship and the musical legacy he left behind.

β€œIt’s been a year since Tony passed away,” she wrote alongside a black-and-white photo of the two.

In the photo, Tony sits in a leather chair sketching something on a tablet, while Gaga – who dedicated one of her final Las Vegas shows to her boyfriend of four years, Michael Polansky – stands with her hand on her heart while wearing an elegant black dress.

She continued, “This photo says it all. I am so grateful for my continued friendship with his wife Susan – the legacy of jazz music he left behind – and for the community of jazz musicians I continue to work with who all knew and loved Tony.

“We keep swinging. Miss you. Life is beautiful,” she concluded.

The jazz legend passed away on June 21, 2023 after battling Alzheimer’s in the last years of his life.

In the photo, the I Left My Heart singer drew a picture of Gaga in San Francisco that would later be used on their 2021 collaborative album Love For Sale.

Bennett and Gaga recorded two albums together and played two sold-out shows at Radio City Music Hall in August 2021.

Those were the last two performances in Bennett’s long and legendary career.

When he died, Gaga posted an extensive tribute to him on Instagram.

“I will miss my friend forever,” Gaga wrote in part. “I will miss singing with him, recording with him, talking to him, and being on stage with him.”
