Barry Humphries’ Sydney apartment sells for $6.1million – one year after the star’s death

Barry Humphries’ three-bedroom Sydney apartment has been sold, a year after the comedian’s death.

According to The Daily TelegraphHumphries’ family has accepted a $6.1 million offer from Romano and Patricia Lacono.

Located in the famous Quay West block, the property offers panoramic views of the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge.

It features a spacious living and dining room and two bathrooms, one with a spa.

The 30th floor apartment is located in a complex with a swimming pool, sauna, spa, parking and 24-hour concierge service.

The apartment had a guide price of $6.3 million.

Humphries purchased the property in 2004 from the late Ramsay Health Care founder Paul Ramsay for $2.5 million.

The Australian comedy legend passed away last April at the age of 89 at Vincent Hospital in Sydney.

Before his death, Humphries had a long and grueling battle with an incurable form of cancer.

For weeks, the comedian had pushed aside concerns about the seriousness of his condition.

Humphries tripped over the rug in February 2023 while reaching for a book and underwent surgery at St Vincent’s Hospital, where he was readmitted before dying.

“He was completely himself until the end and never lost his brilliant mind, his unique humor and his generosity,” his family said in a statement.

Dame Edna Everage remains one of Humphries’ most recognisable inventions.

Humphries was also a successful musical theatre actor, talented landscape painter, film producer, author and screenwriter.

A state memorial service was held at the Sydney Opera House in December last year following his tragic death.
