New Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 leak hints at a key spec for the iPad rival
We’re getting a bunch of new iPads this year after a 2023 break, but Samsung also has a number of premium tablets of its own in the pipeline – and a new specs leak may have just revealed the key component of the upcoming Galaxy Tab S10 series.
According to a seasoned tipster @UniverseIceAll tablets in the 2024 lineup will feature a MediaTek Dimensity 9300 Plus chipset, which is said to be a minor upgrade over the standard Dimensity 9300 CPU that was announced in May.
It’s a surprise, since nearly all previous Galaxy Tab models have been powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon silicon. The lone exception was the original Galaxy Tab S from 2014, which had one of Samsung’s own Exynos processors.
As you’ll see in our Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra review, the 2023 tablets come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. While the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will be making an appearance in the Galaxy S24 series in some regions, Samsung has apparently opted to hold off on it for its tablets, likely to keep costs down.

While Qualcomm chips are generally considered to be the ones that outperform MediaTek and Exynos in terms of performance, the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 Plus remains a “very good performer” according to the source of this leak.
In benchmarks on the webThe Mediatek chip even scores slightly better in certain categories, but synthetic benchmarks don’t always tell the full story when it comes to real-world performance in actual devices.
It raises the eternal question – often asked in relation to Apple’s most expensive iPads – how much power does a tablet really need. The Galaxy Tab S10 series may be moving away from Snapdragon, but they’re still blazing-fast tablets.
When we see these devices – most likely the Tab S10, Tab S10 Plus, and Tab S10 Ultra – they should arrive soon, as their predecessors were unveiled in August 2023. Watch this space.
