TOP SPIN AT THE TEST: England make history for only the second time since WW2 and Joe Root storms up the all-time runs list as hosts dominate West Indies on Day One at Trent Bridge

  • England dominated the first day of their second Test match against West Indies
  • Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope were the stars of the day at Trent Bridge
  • History was made as Joe Root continued to climb the list of all-time top scorers

England began their second Test match against the West Indies with an impressive display of batting, eventually bowling out the home side for 416 runs.

After the Windies won the toss at Trent Bridge, Brendon McCullum came to bat and put pressure on the team to start strongly. Unfortunately, things started to get tough when Zak Crawley was dismissed after just three balls.

Crawley’s troubles were soon forgotten, however, as Ben Duckett scored 71 runs, Ollie Pope top-scored with 121 and Ben Stokes added another half-century to his sensational England Test record.

West Indies prevented England from batting further on the second day as Shoaib Bashir scored just five runs before falling behind to end his team’s first innings.
