See Latrell Mitchell’s epic four-word comeback to Queensland fans after NSW’s massive win in series decider

  • Latrell Mitchell managed to silence the excited Maroons fans
  • NSW star misses Origin deciding match with foot injury
  • Showed his support for the Blues on social media

Latrell Mitchell played no part in the deciding game for the NSW Blues, but he still managed to captivate the Queensland fans.

Mitchell, 27, was unable to play in the third match due to a foot injury but took to Instagram to say he was supporting Michael Maguire’s team.

He posted a picture of his replacement Bradman Best scored the first try of the match at Suncorp Stadium with the accompanying caption: ‘NSW don’t get Origin.’

It was a blunt reference to the perceived fact that the Maroons win the big moments in the Origin arena every year.

Before the Blues’ heroics in Brisbane on Wednesday, the Maroons had won six of the last nine interstate series, including in 2022 and last year.

But Maguire’s men were not to be deterred when it mattered on Wednesday – and Rabbitohs star Mitchell played a key role in NSW levelling the series in game two at the MCG.

NSW Blues legend Andrew Johns praised Maguire for holding his nerve throughout the series, especially after they suffered a huge defeat in the first match in Sydney when Joseph Sua’ali’i was sent off after just ten minutes.

“Michael Maguire, take a bow,” Johns said on Channel 9.

‘But these players, not just the NSW players but the Queensland players, have done everything for their state.

‘This is an absolute classic. It doesn’t get any better than this.’

Maguire himself also spoke out about the myth that his team did not have the same ambition as the Maroons.

“Everyone said to me we don’t have passion. We don’t have this or that or everything in NSW. That’s completely wrong,” he said.

‘You [all] saw what this result meant for the boys.’

This NSW team is only the third Blues team, after the 1994 and 2005 teams, to win a decisive Origin match against all odds in Brisbane.
