Bon Secours selects Philips for 10-year partnership in patient monitoring
Cincinnati-based Bon Secours Mercy Health is partnering with Royal Philips to implement and scale a new patient monitoring platform over the next three years, then monitor it for the next seven years.
WHY IT MATTERS
BSMH is one of the largest Catholic health systems in the country, with more than 1,200 care locations and 49 hospitals in Florida, Kentucky, Maryland, New York, Ohio, South Carolina and Virginia, as well as Ireland.
According to Jodi Pahl, the health system’s chief nursing officer responsible for employee experience and nurse outcomes, the new partnership will “transform care delivery.”
According to Philips, the platform can improve care processes, enable predictable payments and strengthen BSMH’s innovation.
Julia Strandberg, Chief Business Leader Connected Care at Philips, noted that BSMH can provide quality care to more people by eliminating the time-consuming data issues its employees face.
“This partnership is a testament to BSMH’s focus on strong clinical engagement and our shared commitment to improving the patient and staff experience,” she said.

Bon Secours is focused on improving the employee experience through digital transformation, targeting the consumer world of experience management technology.
With a modern system, the healthcare system could collect, analyze and act on feedback coming directly from employees.
“Overall, employee turnover has decreased by more than 5%, proving that listening to feedback and acting on it has an impact,” Joe Filigno, vice president of HR strategy and associate experience, told Healthcare IT News last year.
More data from patient monitoring can further improve BSMH staff experiences.
Last year, Northwell Health added enterprise-wide patient monitoring to improve the patient and staff experience. The system provided visibility into what’s happening at each patient’s bedside, Phyllis McCready, vice president and chief procurement officer for Northwell Health, said in the announcement.
