Incredible moment man on night out climbs 20ft lamppost to rescue stranded seagull before sliding back down fireman-style

This is the incredible moment a man climbed over a 20-foot lamppost in Glasgow city centre to rescue a stranded seagull, only to coolly slide back down like a firefighter.
The man with the glasses was spotted climbing over the specially designed metal lamppost on Sauchiehall Street on Sunday evening after the 2024 European Championship final.
Passers-by stopped and watched in awe. There were cries of ‘no, that can’t be’ as he hauled himself upwards at breakneck speed, the bird flapping its wings in its continued struggle to escape.
He then hooks his legs around one of the pole’s ‘branches’ – which is designed to resemble a tree – before gently pulling the seagull up by its wing.
As the seagull flies away, the small audience below bursts into cheers and whistles, applauding the hero who saved the seagull.
After a quick double fist pump, there is a brief moment when it is feared that the man is stuck. Then he swings his legs back again and slides safely down the pole to the ground.

Iain Dunlop, a part-time barman who runs a garden maintenance and tree surgery business, shot the footage outside the Box Bar where he was tending doors that evening.
Mr Dunlop posted the footage to TikTok, where the incredible work has been viewed more than a million times.
He told the BBC that the unsung hero who saved the bird was a customer of the bar.
Iain, owner of Total Treecall Scotland, said: ‘I honestly couldn’t believe what I was seeing.
‘That guy must have climbed 20 feet into the air to save the seagull. He was up and down in no time.
‘I went to get my climbing gear out of the car, but before I had a chance he had gotten up and gone down and freed the bird.
“It took him less than two minutes to get up and sit down. The seagull looked great and the customer went back inside.”
