Kim Kardashian commits fashion faux pas at lavish Ambani Indian wedding, from wearing the bride’s colour to posing in a bra for a sultry snap after attending religious blessing ceremony

Kim Kardashian made a number of fashion blunders at the Ambani wedding in Mumbai this past weekend.

With a budget of a quarter of a billion pounds, a guest list to rival that of the Met Gala and a host of former world leaders dancing the night away, the Ambani wedding was probably the biggest in the world.

It’s no surprise then that Kim, 43, was on the VIP guest list, along with the likes of Boris and Carrie Johnson, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, to celebrate the union of Anant and Radhika Ambani, both 29.

But unlike the other guests, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star appeared to ignore tradition when it came to her attire, despite opting for outfits inspired by India.

In a move that may be seen as inappropriate, Kim chose the bride’s color: red. It’s a faux pas not unlike that of a guest wearing white to a wedding in the United Kingdom. She also wore a nose ring, called a nath, which is also traditionally reserved for the bride.

The TV personality was among the VIP guests when Anant Ambani, the son of India’s richest man, tied the knot with pharmacist Radhika Merchant in a star-studded ceremony at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai.

Hindu priests led the ceremony, chanting ancient Sanskrit verses as the couple walked around a sacred fire. They also took seven vows to seal their marriage.

On Saturday, a traditional ‘divine blessing ceremony’ known as ‘The Shubh Aashirwad’ took place at the same venue as the reception.

The dates for the ceremonies were chosen by a Hindu priest based on auspicious days in the birth charts of Anant and Radhika.

Since the festivities lasted several days, it’s no surprise that Kim wanted to switch up her outfit.

On Friday, the Skims founder unveiled her first Bollywood-inspired outfit: a red lehenga, a traditional outfit consisting of an ankle-length skirt and a top of her choice.

“I’m going to a wedding,” Kim said in a video on her Instagram Stories. She also shared that the cameras for her TV show The Kardashians were with her.

Although it was Kim’s first time attending the event, she had already made an etiquette error: she wore red.

Kim posted a photo on Instagram of herself wearing a red bindi, suggesting she attended a religious ceremony. However, sharing the photo in a Skims bra could be considered disrespectful.

In Hindu tradition, red is only for the bride, meaning guests should avoid this color for fear of upsetting or upsetting the bride.

Brides wear red as a sign of good luck for the future, prosperity and to ward off evil spirits.

Kim wasn’t the only one. Cherie Blair, wife of former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, also attended the wedding, dressed in red.

The 43-year-old’s lehenga top could also be considered inappropriate. While the tops vary and often embrace modernity, many choose to dress modestly when attending a Hindu ceremony.

It wasn’t the mother of four’s only red look, by the way: on Sunday evening she opted for a ruby-red outfit.

The reality star completed her outfit with emerald jewels from Lorraine Schwartz, including rings, earrings and a beautifully designed headpiece.

While the Lorraine Schwartz pieces didn’t cause any drama, Kim’s nose ring, which complemented her ivory sari on another occasion, was a controversial choice.

Kim attended the blessing ceremony on Sunday in a traditional lehenga skirt adorned with intricate beaded detailing, while Khloe Kardashian wowed in a striking pink ensemble.

As Kim and Khloe prepared to travel to the wedding’s “divine blessing ceremony,” the sisters were hard to miss in their extravagant outfits.

This time it wasn’t Kim’s outfit, but her nose ring (also called nath), a striking nose piece that you can attach to your ear or hairpiece.

The traditional jewelry, worn for centuries, is once again a popular choice for Hindu brides on their wedding day, as it symbolizes a woman’s marital status and fertility.

Kim shared a post on Instagram over the weekend of herself wearing a Skims bra in India, captioning it, “Bless me.”

The addition of a red bindi on her forehead indicates that she has attended one of the religious ceremonies.

Again, her clothing can be considered disrespectful if worn in a religious setting. Attendees of religious events often choose to cover their chests and shoulders.
