A bandaged Trump laughs as Amber Rose tells Republican convention he’s ‘the best chance we have to give our babies a better life’ and says ‘I belong here’
Model and rapper Amber Rose told the Republican National Convention Monday night that former President Donald Trump is “the best chance we have to give our babies a better life.”
Rose, the ex-girlfriend of Kanye West and ex-wife of Wiz Khalifa, explained to the Milwaukee that she changed her mind about Trump after doing some research and attending a few rallies.
She was one of the few speakers Trump captured in person Monday night, as he sat in a box at the Fiserv Forum, his ear bandaged, looking smitten.
“I realized that Donald Trump and his supporters don’t care if you’re black, white, gay, straight, it’s all love,” Rose said. “And that’s when it hit me: These are my people, this is where I belong.”
Rose said her father was Trump’s biggest supporter in her racially diverse family, but she pushed back, saying she thought the Republican was racist.

Former President Donald Trump, who officially became the Republican nominee earlier Monday, made a brief appearance at the end of the first day of the RNC and grinned as Amber Rose spoke
He resisted, she said, telling her that Trump wasn’t.
“And when he kept pushing, he said prove it. So to prove my father wrong, I did my research and looked into everything that had to do with Donald Trump,” she said.
She said her experience with Trump’s “red hat supporters” changed her mind.
“So I let go of my fear of judgment, of misunderstanding, of attacks from the left, and I put on the red hat too,” she said to cheers and shouts. “I have never felt so free and loving towards my country as I do now.”
Rose’s performance Monday stood out, as the other speakers included politicians, average Americans and a top labor leader.
Republican conventions typically don’t see as many Hollywood stars on stage as their Democratic counterparts.
And even Trump’s past as a reality star hasn’t really helped him.

Perhaps the most notable celebrity appearance on stage in the past 15 years came when director and actor Clint Eastwood pretended that a chair was then-President Barack Obama to endorse Republican candidate Mitt Romney in 2012.
Trump managed to attract a handful of D-listers to the 2016 party convention in Cleveland, where Antonio Sabato Jr. and Scott Baio were given speaking duties.
In 2020, Trump’s convention moved to Washington DC due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with a more limited speaker schedule.
In addition to Rose, reality star Savannah Chrisley will also speak at the four-day event.
There were rumors that 50 Cent would also be in attendance. CNN reported Monday that the rapper is “in talks” with convention organizers to perform.
But a spokesperson told DailyMail.com that he is currently having a scheduling problem.
“He can be found somewhere else,” his publicist said.
