Wild moment Uber Eats driver tries to fight off teens from allegedly stealing his car after stranger jumped into vehicle seconds after he left it to drop off an order
Shocking footage has emerged of the moment three teenagers steal a car moments after an Uber Eats delivery driver gets out to drop off an order.
The shocking incident happened at 1.45pm on Thursday outside a house on Romsey Place in Langwarrin, Melbourne’s south-east.
Three 17-year-old boys from Reservoir, Oakleigh and Langwarrin were charged with aggravated home invasion and aggravated carjacking following the incident.
CCTV footage from a neighbouring property showed the Uber Eats delivery driver parking his Toyota Camry in front of a house before going outside to drop off an order.
The 33-year-old, who had left the driver’s side door open, ran back moments later when he saw a teenager jump into the car.
The alleged thief, wearing a gray hoodie, was seen in the footage reversing to drive away.
The teenager kicked the man several times before his friend, who was wearing dark sportswear, got out of a suspected stolen van nearby.
He then punched the Uber Eats delivery driver from behind, causing him to fall to the ground.

The man stood up and tried to stop the teenager again, but was dragged several meters as he clung to the car door.
He was taken to hospital with serious injuries, including several cuts and abrasions.
Damian, who had ordered the food for lunch, immediately called the police and said the incident was terrible.
“You could see the victim reaching through the window to get the man out,” he told the Herald Sun.
‘Then we picked him up around the corner and a knife was held to him.’
The teens then dumped the car in Hughesdale, after which they reportedly broke into the home of an elderly couple.
Spiros Zois, 82, and his wife Angela, 74, were listening to the radio when the teenagers burst in and demanded the couple hand over their car keys.
Mr. Zois was pushed to the ground and injured his back. The trio left empty-handed.
‘He pushed me to the floor and then they ran into the bedrooms, everywhere [to] “Find the keys to the car,” Mr. Zois said 7News.

The group was arrested by police a short time later.
Two boys appeared before the juvenile court on Friday, while the third was in hospital under police guard.
The alleged thieves are accused of stealing a pickup truck, a front-wheel drive car and the Camry.
Two of the boys allegedly stole a knife and a knife sharpener from a hardware store in Frankston on the same day.
The trio are accused of committing a total of 39 crimes, including assault, theft from cars and theft from victims, according to a court document.
On August 1, all teenagers will be back on the field.
