Biology professor is slammed over sick joke about Trump’s assassination attempt

A Canadian biology professor shocked social media with his comment about the attempted assassination of Donald Trump.

Thomas Matthew Crooks, the 20-year-old assassin who shot Donald Trump, opened fire on the former president with an AR-style rifle from a rooftop 400 feet from the rally stage in Butler, Pennsylvania, at 6:15 p.m. Saturday.

Many have used the attack on the former president to call for more moderate rhetoric from both sides of the political spectrum.

Shoshanna Jacobs, a biology professor at the University of Guelph in Ontario, faced widespread criticism after she cited and tweeted a video of the shooting, noting how narrowly Trump was hit.

Jacobs – professor of integrative biology – wrote on the social media platform X: ‘When 10 cm really matters’.

The professor, who has taught at the school since 2012 and uses the pronouns “they” and “them,” was quickly vilified for her joke.

“Wow, you are truly a horrible person,” wrote one X user. “People died today. But hey, you got jokes.”

Another added succinctly: “This just makes you look bad.”

More and more social media users tagged Jacobs’ employers and asked them to resign.

“Do you support murders and murderers @uofg? Why do you support a professor who teaches crime at the University of Guelph?”

Another wrote: ‘Teacher? I really hope you get fired for your nasty, nasty comment.’

Donald Trump’s family and supporters have criticized the left-wing media for downplaying Saturday night’s assassination attempt and publishing deadpan opinion pieces in the wake of the atrocity.

Publishers were criticized for describing gunshots as “loud bangs” and for describing Trump as “falling” from the stage without referring to the assassination attempt.

The New York Times also faced criticism for publishing an op-ed titled “Donald Trump Is Unfit to Lead,” which encouraged voters to “reject him in November” on the morning after the shooting.

The title page shows a menacing silhouette of Trump’s side profile, backlit. It also reads: ‘He failed the tests of leadership and betrayed America.’

The president’s son, Donald Trump Jr., led the criticism of X, calling CNN “disgusting” and “a disgrace” for its coverage of the campaign incident in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Many noted the insensitivity, as Corey Comperatore, 50, was killed by the gunshots as he tried to save his family.

Comperatore died a hero as he shielded his young daughter and wife from the gunfire, while he was killed by 20-year-old gunman Crooks.

Other Trump supporters rushed to his aid in the stands shortly after Crooks opened fire from a rooftop 400 feet away.

Relatives announced Comperatore’s untimely passing on Sunday as they paid tribute to the former volunteer firefighter.

His sister wrote on Facebook: “The PA Trump Rally cost the life of my brother, Corey Comperatore. The hatred for one man cost the life of the man we love most. He was a hero who protected his daughters.

“His wife and daughters just went through the unthinkable and the unimaginable. My little brother just turned 50 and had so much to experience,” she continued.

“Hate knows no bounds and love knows no bounds. Please pray for my sister-in-law, nieces, my mother, sister, me and his nieces and nephews because this feels like a horrible nightmare but we know it is our painful reality.”

Comperatore’s daughter Allyson also wrote, “He died a true superhero.”

After the attack, Trump posted a statement on Truth Social confirming that he had been struck by a bullet, while also thanking the Secret Service and law enforcement for their “quick response to the recent shooting in Butler, Pennsylvania.”

The former president also confirmed that one participant in the demonstration was killed and another was “seriously injured.”

‘Most importantly, I would like to express my condolences to the family of the person who died at the demonstration, and also to the family of another person who was seriously injured.’

“It is unbelievable that something like this could happen in our country. There is no information at this time about the shooter, who is now dead. I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear,” the former president said.

“I knew right away something was wrong because I heard a whooshing sound, shots, and I immediately felt the bullet rip through my skin. There was a lot of blood loss, so that’s when I realized what was happening. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”
