The Bachelor’s Laura Byrne left heartbroken as she shares tragic family news: ‘Years of endless love and dedication’
Laura Byrne has said goodbye to her beloved grandmother.
The Bachelor star shared a series of photos of her grandmother, Shirley May, thanking her for her love and support and expressing her gratitude for the matriarch in her life.
“94 years of endless love and devotion to our family,” she wrote alongside one of the moving images of Shirley holding her grandchild.
“This week we said goodbye to our family’s best Christmas pudding maker, cuddler and matriarch, Nana,” she continued.
‘I feel so lucky that my grandmother got to meet her great-grandchildren, but it also makes me sad that they don’t get to grow up knowing the wonderful grandmother I had.
“I know Papa would have waited for you, like he always did. At least they can be together again.”

Laura and her husband Matty ‘J’ Johnson have two daughters: Marlie-Mae, five, and Lola, three.

Matty and his wife Laura Byrne married on the south coast in 2022 after meeting on The Bachelor.
Laura and Matty are one of the most successful couples to emerge from the show, but the beautiful brunette told the I’ve Got News For You podcast that it almost didn’t happen because she got ‘cold feet’ the day before filming in 2017.
“I completely changed my mind and didn’t show up for the taping,” she confessed.
“If you are selected, you will be assigned a time and location. That time and location are secret, to deter the paparazzi,” she explains.
‘I got picked up at 3pm from a random park in Alexandria. You had to arrive there with all your bags and then a bus would come and pick you up.

“And I remember it got to 3 p.m. and I was sitting at home and I didn’t have a bag packed. I just had a complete change of heart. I really didn’t want to do it; I was worried about what it would be like competing for a man’s attention on a reality TV show.”
Then she got a call from the producers who gave her until 10am the next morning to decide. That night she had a dream that changed her mind again.
Since meeting, Matty and Laura have become parents of two beautiful daughters.
In 2019, they welcomed Marlie-Mae, followed by Lola in February 2021. The couple got engaged while on holiday in Fiji in April 2018.
In March, the couple welcomed a new member to the family.
The famous couple announced on Instagram that they have adopted a kitten named Raspberry.
