Bernie Sanders, 82, issues stark warning to Democrat ‘firing squad’ – after admitting Biden ‘is old, prone to gaffes and had a disastrous debate with Trump’

Bernie Sanders has admitted that Joe Biden is ‘old, makes mistakes, walks stiffly and had a disastrous debate with Trump.’

The Democratic senator laid out his views in an essay for the New York Times, in which he acknowledged that the president is “not the ideal candidate.”

However, he warned his party’s supporters that continuing to focus on Biden’s blunders would only result in Donald Trump being elected.

Sanders, 82, took aim at a vocal group of elected Democrats, whom he called a “firing squad,” who had been calling for the president’s resignation since the presidential debate.

“Enough! Mr. Biden may not be the ideal candidate, but he will be the candidate and should be the candidate,” Sanders wrote.

“And with an effective campaign that addresses the needs of working families, he will not only beat Mr. Trump, but beat him big time. It’s time for Democrats to stop the bickering and the whining.”

The Vermont representative acknowledged that he and the president disagree on several issues, including US support for Israel’s war in Gaza and the Affordable Care Act, which he sees as inadequate.

However, he defended the president’s “excellent” record during his time in office, as well as his performance in recent weeks.

Biden has indicated he will run, but his opponents are using his recent gaffe as evidence that he is mentally unfit to lead.

“For more than two weeks, the corporate media has been obsessed with the June presidential debate and the cognitive abilities of a man who has perhaps the most difficult and stressful job in the world,” Sanders said.

“The media has been frantically searching for any living person who no longer supports the president or any neurologist willing to appear on TV. Unfortunately, too many Democrats have joined that circular firing squad.”

He declared that despite his own reservations about him, Biden is still a better choice than Trump, whom he reduced to his laundry list of felony charges.

“Unlike Republicans, they don’t have to testify for a candidate who has now been convicted of 34 felonies and faces charges that could lead to dozens of additional convictions.

“Who was awarded $5 million in damages after being found liable in a sexual abuse case, who was involved in more than 4,000 lawsuits, who has repeatedly gone bankrupt, and who has told thousands of documented lies and untruths,” Sanders wrote.

He accused Trump of wanting to protect billionaires at the expense of ordinary Americans.

“If Mr. Biden and his supporters focus on these issues — and refuse to be divided and distracted — the president will rally working families in the industrial swing states of the Midwest and elsewhere and win the election in November,” Sanders said.

“And let me say this as emphatically as I can: for the sake of our children and future generations, he must win.”

The essay came after weeks of embarrassing missteps by the president, who have been in the spotlight since the presidential debate over the June 27 car crashes.

Just this week, Biden reignited concerns when he accidentally referred to Ukrainian President Zelensky as Putin.
