Melbourne: Shock courtroom outburst by man accused of pushing a woman onto train tracks at Richmond Station during peak hour
A man suspected of endangering a woman’s life by pushing her onto the tracks during rush hour has appeared in court.
Patrick Stewart, 54, appeared in Melbourne District Court on Friday charged following the incident at Richmond train station on July 3.
At the end of a brief hearing, Stewart told the court: “I wish to plead guilty to all the crimes.”
But Magistrate Tim Shocker said: ‘I can’t deal with that today, I can’t talk to (defence lawyer) Mr Boyle’ and adjourned the case until August 7.
Earlier this month, a 64-year-old woman was reportedly pushed onto the tracks at Richmond station.
She was taken to hospital with injuries, but her life is not in danger.
Stewart is charged with endangering life, endangering serious injury, reckless endangering injury and unlawful assault on a woman over the incident at the train station.
He has also been charged in other incidents, including alleged burglaries, thefts, aggravated burglary, trespassing, unlawful assault and making death threats.
