Bangkok hospital opens $5 million robotic surgery center
Bangkok Hospital, one of Thailand’s largest private healthcare providers, is to build a $5 million robotic surgery center.
According to a press release, the facility will have multiple operating rooms equipped with robotic platforms such as the da Vinci Xi Surgical System from the United States.
The investment is part of the hospital’s five-year strategy, which includes expanding its robotic surgery capabilities to more specialties, such as ear, nose and throat surgery, and investing in education and training to become a Centre of Excellence in robotic surgery in Southeast Asia.
St Luke’s ElderCare’s Newest Robotic-Based Rehabilitation Therapy Center
Healthcare provider St Luke’s ElderCare (SLEC) recently opened a day rehabilitation centre in Butik Batok, a district in western Singapore.
According to the announcement on LinkedIn, the facility will offer specialized rehabilitation therapy using robotics technology, augmented reality and gamification elements.
Meanwhile, SLEC recently conducted a project that used MemoryLane’s generative AI to help seniors write their life stories. The Golden Memories Programme aims to preserve their stories in books and videos. The senior care provider plans to expand this program to more centers soon.
Hoan My, Abbott uses AI for NCD diagnosis
Vietnam’s privately owned Hoan My Medical Group and Abbott Vietnam aim to implement an AI-based clinical decision support system as part of their collaboration to improve the diagnosis and treatment of non-communicable diseases.
In a statement, Hoan My Group CEO Dr. Dilshaad Ali Bin Abas Ali explained that their partnership with Abbott “will contribute to better diagnosis and effective treatment of non-communicable diseases, which are responsible for more than three-quarters of all deaths in Vietnam.”
The CDSS will be used to categorize patients based on AI-driven risk assessments and data analytics, improving health screening. It will also help improve clinical management of care teams.
BoThese organizations will also work to implement a cardiac risk stratification program to predict future risk of heart disease; deploy an Abbott traumatic brain injury test to assess brain damage; and establish diabetes care programs and nutritional intervention plans.
In addition, they will develop public education programs targeting chronic diseases such as heart disease and diabetes, as well as infectious diseases such as influenza and dengue.
