Princess Anne returns to royal duties for the first time since suffering concussion in horse-related accident as she attends riding event in Gloucestershire

Princess Anne is returning to her royal duties for the first time since suffering a concussion in a horse-riding accident.

Princess Royal was taken to Bristol’s Southmead Hospital last month after reportedly being kicked by a horse at her Gatcombe Park estate in Gloucestershire.

The 73-year-old royal, a skilled rider who competed in the 1976 Montreal Olympics, was out for a walk when the incident occurred.

Emergency services were dispatched to the estate and after receiving medical attention at the scene, Anne was taken to hospital for testing, treatment and observation.

Today she attended the Riding for the Disabled Association National Championships at Hartpury University and Hartpury College in Gloucestershire after recovering from her serious injury.

The royal family appeared to be in high spirits as they attended the event, smiling as they met members of the charity, of which she has been patron since November 1971.
