Erica Stoll watches Rory McIlroy after shock divorce U-turn as golf star returns following US Open meltdown

Rory McIlroy was watched by his wife Erica Stoll as he returned to golf for the first time since last month’s US Open. Just days after calling off his divorce, he suffered a heartbreaking breakdown.

The Northern Irishman took a break from the sport after collapsing in Pinehurst last month, allowing Bryson DeChambeau to win the US Open.

His wife Erica Stoll was also in attendance when McIlroy made his return to the Renaissance Club this week.

The world number 2 is preparing for the 152nd Open Championship at Royal Troon after a tumultuous few weeks on and off the court.

McIlroy filed for divorce from Stoll in May, but called it off just days before the US Open in Pinehurst, where he nearly ended his decade-long wait for a fifth major.

He showed no signs of overcoming the disappointment and returned to action with a brilliant opening round (5 under par) at the Scottish Open.

Stoll was pictured wearing a black coat and a $3,400 Louis Vuitton crossbody. It would be the first time she has seen McIlroy live since the Ryder Cup in Rome last September.
