Fans have noticed a striking similarity between Lamine Yamal’s stunning goal against France and another he scored for Spain last year.

Barcelona’s star shone as Spain qualified for the finals of Euro 2024 with a 2-1 win over Didier Deschamps’ men.

Yamal made European Championship history on Tuesday evening by becoming the youngest goalscorer in the tournament’s history.

The Spanish prodigy, just 16 years and 362 days old, broke that record in style by finding the net with a stunning long-range shot against France.

Footage has now emerged of his goal against Les Bleus in the semi-final of last year’s European Under-17 Championship.

Just like on Tuesday night, Yamal cut inside from the right and fired into the top corner from a distance, but France eventually won 3-1.

And fans on social media did not hold back their praise for Yamal after the footage surfaced on social media.

One said: ‘This is scary! What talent this boy has’, while another wrote: ‘The new goat in town at 16’.

A third posted: ‘A new superstar that we can enjoy for years to come!’.

Before Yamal, Switzerland’s Johan Vonlanthen held the record for the youngest goalscorer at a European Men’s Championship.

Vonlanthen was 18 years and 141 days old when he scored at Euro 2004, also against France.

Just four minutes after Yamal’s goal, Dani Olmo scored the winning goal from a deflection off Jules Kounde to secure the Spaniards a place in Sunday’s final.

Yamal and co will now face England or the Netherlands in Berlin in their quest for a fourth European title.
