Sharon Stone says she lost $18 MILLION after her devastating 2001 stroke because ‘people took advantage’ of her: ‘I had zero money’

Sharon Stone revealed she lost millions in savings during her recovery from a debilitating stroke in 2001.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter The 66-year-old actress claimed Tuesday that the $18 million she had amassed over more than two decades in Hollywood evaporated during the years she was unable to work due to brain damage from the stroke.

Stone, who controversially claimed in the same interview that Kevin Spacey’s banishment from Hollywood was partly motivated by homophobia, attributed her loss of millions to those around her mismanaging her money as she struggled to regain basic functions, such as the ability to read, which she lost “for a couple of years.”

Stone said it took her a total of seven years to recover from the effects of the life-threatening stroke. Doctors estimate her chance of survival is only one in 100.

Stone, who suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage in 2001, said she suffered a brain hemorrhage for nine days, temporarily losing her “sense of smell, my sense of sight, my sense of touch”; the year of her stroke was chronicled

She described the surreal feeling she had of having little to spend, yet being competent enough to manage her finances.

“My refrigerator, my phone, everything was registered to other people,” she revealed.

Stone then clarified, “I had zero money.”

It’s unclear how much of Stone’s medical bills and years of therapy she paid for, but she described the severe symptoms her subarachnoid hemorrhage caused.

“I had a bleed in my brain for nine days, which pushed my brain toward the front of my face,” she explained, adding, “It wasn’t in the same place in my head as it was before.”

The physical change in her brain meant that ‘everything changed’.

“My sense of smell, my sense of sight, my sense of touch. I couldn’t read for a couple of years,” the Oscar nominee admitted. “Things were stretching out and I was seeing patterns of color.

“A lot of people thought I was going to die,” she added.

In addition to the changes in her senses, Stone agreed “100 percent” that the stroke changed the way she thinks.

“A Buddhist monk told me I was reincarnated in the same body,” she said. “I had a death experience and then they brought me back.”

In addition to struggling to read for years, Stone also suffered from years of eye and memory problems, making it difficult for her to get acting work.

Despite the debilitating symptoms she lived with for years, Stone said she was eventually able to move by “staying”[ing] present and late[ting] to go.’

“I’ve decided not to be sick anymore, or hold on to any bitterness or anger,” she admitted. “If you bite the seed of bitterness, it will never leave you.”

“But if you have faith, even if that faith is the size of a mustard seed, you will survive. So now I live for joy. I live for a purpose,” Stone said defiantly.
