Beauty expert reveals the products you should always avoid at TJ Maxx

A beautician and beauty expert has revealed four TJ Maxx products that customers should never buy.

Isabella Traboscia posted a TikTok video on July 3 with the names of products that consumers should not buy in stores.

Traboscia couldn’t wait for the “hate comments” she knew she would receive for all four products, one of which was from the Kylie Jenner skincare collection.

She called each of the products “a beauty therapist’s nightmare” and even called one “junk.”

The aesthetician revealed that the four nightmare products came from the following ingredients and brands: Retinol, KylieSkin, Mario Badescu, and Conair.

Retinol Makeup Removing Cleansing Wipes were a big no for the beauty expert.

“Why does your makeup remover need retinol?” she wrote in the video.

The wipes were released under Precision Beauty, a brand that specializes in makeup applicators, blenders, facial products and cleansers.

The makeup remover has received good reviews in the past, with one customer calling the product “fast and official” in a judgement she wrote last year on Influenster.

However, one company that spoke positively about retinol also noted that it doesn’t provide the makeup remover consumers are hoping for.

‘Does retinol remove makeup? Well folks, it can do it about as well as a goldfish cycling the Tour de France,’ read SeoulCeuticals from April 2024.

‘Retinol is actually a beauty miracle, but certainly not a makeup remover.’

The only thing Traboscia could say in her video about the KylieSkin Clarifying Exfoliating Toner was that the product is a “straight no.”

The product is described on Kylie Cosmetics as a “powerful formula that brightens, minimizes pores and balances skin.”

Verified buyers of Kylie Cosmetics have been raving about the product over the past few months, with one person saying the toner left their skin feeling “really fresh and radiant.”

However, a Reddit user who touted the skin-care products two years ago wrote that they “won’t work miracles” for consumers with cystic acne, hyperpigmentation or scars.

“I applied it and it felt nice, but it didn’t absorb well and made my skin oilier, even though it’s a purifying toner,” wrote an Ulta Beauty consumer and Kentucky resident in May.

According to the beauty expert, the “junk skincare” TJ Maxx shoppers should avoid is the Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rose Water.

According to the company’s website, the product is designed to energize the skin and is an ideal product for all skin types.

A consumer in New York even praised the product in a comment yesterday, writing that the scent is “wonderful and refreshing.”

However, the 2013 class action lawsuit temporarily tarnished the Mario Badescu brand because the steroid ingredient in the products was not listed on the label.

The lawsuit also alleged that steroids “can be harmful to the skin if not prescribed by a doctor.”

The lawsuit was settled and the company agreed to remove off-label steroids from all of its product formulas.

Traboscia later criticized the True Glow by Conair Microdermabrasion Rechargeable Beauty Tool for its potential effects on consumers’ skin.

“I am sure whoever buys it will damage their skin barrier and hurt their face,” the beautician wrote.

Consumers who reviewed the product on Conair’s website noted in the comments that they had unfortunately experienced the skin problems Traboscia mentioned.

“I got bruises on my nose. I used the second and first settings. It didn’t really remove much gunk,” one reviewer wrote in 2020.

“I read that some people get bruises, it’s permanent damage and they need a laser to fix it. After the bruise I had to ice my nose.”

TikTok users who commented on Traboscia’s statements about the products apparently agreed with her. When it came to the KylieSkin product, many were divided.

“Unpopular opinion: The KylieSkin moisturizer is actually one of the best I’ve ever used,” one TikTok user wrote in the comments.

Others agreed with the user’s statement, with more than one person noting that “not everyone has the same skin.”

“My beautician said you can use Mario Badescu sprays just fine,” wrote another commenter.

However, a TikTokker who claimed to be a beauty expert, like Traboscia, advised the commenter to look for another professional.

“I would find a new esthetician. She probably didn’t look at the formula and ingredients,” the expert wrote.

‘I am a beautician myself and I have never met another beautician who approved of Mario.’
