Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim rumors say it could feature super-sized displays
There have been a lot of leaks about the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, with it expected to be revealed next week. However, there have also been rumors of a “slim” version of the foldable device launching later, and we may have learned more about that now.
According to a report by The Elec (through Android Authority), the production schedule for this mysterious model has now been finalized and the phone is expected to hit the market in the fourth quarter of the year (from October).
Not only is this model said to be thinner – hence the “slim” moniker – it is also said to bring an 8-inch main display and a 6.5-inch cover display. However, support for the S Pen has reportedly been dropped, which helps make it slimmer.
As our Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 review will tell you, that foldable phone has a 7.6-inch main display and a 6.2-inch outer screen. The Galaxy Z Fold 6, which is expected to be unveiled next week, will apparently stick to those sizes as well.
Is this the Ultra?
This is more evidence that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim is indeed on the way, but whether you can buy it is another matter. The Elec says the 400,000-500,000 units will only be available in certain select markets, with China being the only one specifically mentioned.
Other foldable phones on the market, like the Honor Magic V2, have primary displays that are closer to 8-inches in size – so this move could be seen as Samsung reaching screen parity with those devices. A foldable of this size has reportedly been in the works for a while now.
The Elec does mention that certain components are higher-specced in the slim model compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 6, but doesn’t say which ones. It’s possible this device is actually what was previously called the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra.
