Gregg Berhalter’s fate ‘to be decided NEXT WEEK’ as US Soccer faces increasing pressure to fire head coach after USMNT’s Copa America disaster

A decision on the future of U.S. men’s national team coach Gregg Berhalter is expected to be made by the middle of next week.

That information was exclusively revealed by Fox Sports during the break of their report on the Portugal-France European Championship.

Calls for Berhalter’s firing have been growing in recent days since the USMNT were eliminated from the Copa America after losses to Panama and Uruguay. The US made history by becoming the first Copa America hosts to fail to advance to the knockout stage.

As Fox Sports reports, it took about the same amount of time to make a decision on Berhalter’s future as it did for US Soccer to decide the fate of women’s national team coach Vlatko Andonovski.

Andonovski was fired about 10 days after the U.S. national team was eliminated in the round of 16 of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

There are no indications and no serious rumors that point to a decision on whether Berhalter will stay or go.

Calls have come from all corners of American soccer for Berhalter to be fired or removed from his position following his shameful performance at the Copa America.

For example, consider American soccer legends Clint Dempsey, Alexi Lalas and Carli Lloyd in the FOX Sports panel immediately after the match.

Supporters of this movement, such as the American Outlaws, have also called for Berhalter’s departure.

Even Berhalter’s CONCACAF rivals have spoken out about it, with Canadian coach Jesse Marsch admitting he was “disappointed” by the U.S. national team’s departure and citing their “lack of discipline.”

There has already been speculation about who could succeed Berhalter, with some claiming that US Soccer should go after Jurgen Klopp.

That goes for DailyMail.com’s Tim Howard as well, who said he would fly to Spain himself to convince Klopp to join the USMNT.
