Greg Page, Murray Cook, Jeff Fatt and Anthony Field formed the children’s band in 1991.

Blue Wiggle Anthony said he was emotional as he watched the recordings of the band’s first performances in preparation for the upcoming film.

“Searching through the archives has yielded so many incredible memories,” he told Variety.

“From our first shows for 30 kids, to touring America and the world, playing to arenas… It’s been such an incredible and evolving journey and we can’t wait to share our story with everyone.”

The film is directed by veteran documentary filmmaker Sally Aitkin, who also made the popular film A Cinematic Life (2017) about Australian film icon David Stratton.

“Of course there’s a huge sense of responsibility to do justice to the story of Australia’s most iconic and successful band,” she said.

“I am stunned and deeply moved by many aspects of their story.”

The news comes after The Wiggles have proven themselves to a much older, hipper crowd than their regular toddler crowd.

It was recently announced that The OG Wiggles will be playing at the Falls Festival next January.

And in July, the iconic group ditched their skivvies for street-cool outfits when they landed their first Rolling Stone cover.

“The past two years have been some of their best in history,” Rolling Stone AU/NZ print editor Jake Challenor beamed about the cover story.

“The Wiggles are more relevant than ever, which is exactly why pop culture icons like Lil Nas X and The Kid Laroi are embracing them.

“Without a doubt, 2022 is officially the Year of the Wiggles.”

The Wiggles proved they were at their best in January when they topped Triple J’s 2021 annual Hottest 100 list with their cover of Tame Impala’s 2012 psychedelic hit Elephant.

Second place went to The Kid Laroi and Justin Bieber for their 2020 hit, Stay.
