Turkish prodigy Arda Guler was praised by fans for his “ice-cold” reaction to their second goal against Austria, which secured his country a place in the quarter-finals of Euro 2024 with a 2-1 victory.
Merih Demiral opened the scoring after just 56 seconds, with the defender heading in a Guler corner just before the hour.
Austrian fans threw plastic beer cups at Real Madrid teenager Guler as he walked to the corner.
Television footage showed the 19-year-old’s reaction to the assist, as he turned to the Austrian fans and pointed to his head.
Fans took to social media en masse to praise the young man, with one person writing that he found his adoration “ICE COLD,” while another said the teen was “wired differently.”

Other supporters on social media claimed that the comment proves that he has already adapted to life as a Real Madrid player, after joining the club from Fenerbahçe last summer.

Another tweeted: ‘Madrid players are built differently’, while another claimed his Los Blancos teammate Vinicius Jnr would be ‘absolutely delighted’ with his response to the Austrian fans.
There was one Real Madrid fan who called Guler a ‘Mesut Ozil rain’, but then added that the youngster was ‘here to rule’.
Austria scored another goal in the 66th minute through Michael Gregoritsch, before Turkey’s Mert Gunok pulled off the tournament save in the 94th minute, convincingly sending his country into the quarter-finals.
Also during last night’s match, Austrian Marcel Sabitzer was hit by an object that appeared to have been thrown by Turkish supporters.
Sabitzer had previously had plastic cups thrown at him when he tried to take a corner, as Austria fought back after Turkey went 2-0 up in Leipzig.

Sabitzer fell to the ground briefly and grabbed his head, while the Turkish players appeared to be calling on their supporters not to throw objects.
The Austrian star pointed out the object to the race officials, who then had a staff member take it away.
UEFA has fined countries more than £1 million for supporter behaviour during the tournament.
